THE FILTER PROJECT  KITALE

WELCOME

Mwangaza House International is partnered with The Filter Project to share the pure love of Christ through purified water. Each filter we give provides unique and meaningful connections with people to have conversations about Jesus Christ and what it means to follow Him.

The Problems We're Solving

In the areas we work, most people get their water from a bore hole, rain catchment, creek or river such as the one pictured here.  These contain harmful microorganisms causing typhoid, amoebic dysentery, meningitis, cholera, and skin rashes. Most families in these communities cannot afford medical care for such problems. This  is a public health crisis.

Additionally, thousands of people in this area are living without knowing Jesus Christ. Some who profess to know Jesus do not gather in a Biblically sound church  and/or do not know how to spread the Gospel to make more followers of Jesus. This is a spiritual health crisis.

The Filters We Give

The filters we distribute are manufactured by Sawyer in Safety Harbor, Florida, USA. They contain no replaceable parts, will last over 20 years, and filter out 99.99999% of all bacteria, parasites, and other harmful pathogens from drinking water. It uses the same technology as kidney dialysis, capturing pathogens in a densely-braided cluster of straws.

The filter requires no professional servicing, only a simple ""backflush" with each use. It is attached easily to a plastic bucket or water bottle.

More Than Just Clean Water

During distribution of filters, The Filter Project team members use the filter to visually share the Gospel of Jesus in an engaging way,  We illustrate the work of Jesus Christ to cleanse people from their sins by the shedding of HIs blood. We utilize The Jesus Film in Kiswahili to further engage recipients in a program of evangelism.

After each recipient receives a filter, our team visits the recipient's home a minimum of three times. In every home visit we teach about sanitation, health/hygiene, handwashing, and what it means to follow Jesus and to make disciples of Jesus.

Jesus said, "Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst."  John 4:14

Where We Serve

Our mission-mapped area contains nine wards in Trans-Nzoia County, Kenya. Currently working in Sirende ward, our team has assessed the need for clean water in 3,559 homes. This represents 19,325 people living in those homes. The goal is to place a Sawyer filter in every home assessed. Then we will move on to more county wards, as God leads us and provides for this project.

Growing the Church of Jesus

In every home we visit, we invite people to follow Jesus, and many do.  We share lessons from the Bible and give the Bible in print or audio,  in the heart language. We invite individuals to attend a like-minded local church of sound doctrine; many begin attending and they grow in their faith in Jesus and knowledge of Scripture.

We have regular baptisms for any who choose to follow Jesus Christ and want to be baptized. In recipient homes we teach about baptism and about how to share the Gospel of Jesus with others.
